Renowned Hindi poet and satirist Om Prakash Aditya, known for his wit and humour, was killed in a road accident near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh on June 8, 2009. The accident happened when Mr. Aditya, along with some other poets was on his way back to Delhi, after attending an event in Bhopal.
“Having taught Hindi in MIS till he left school in 1973, he was loved and respected by all his students. He lived with his family in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi and was to turn 73 on the 5th of November this year.
“Mr. O P Sharma was a natural poet. He taught us ‘Lower’ Hindi in Class IX. I vividly remember he never even once turned away our requests to tell his own poems in the class, which kind of inspired us to understand the subject better and attempt writing poetry ourselves.”
Sanjeev Bindal Batch of 1977
“Some people may not be around you all the time, but in the little time they spend with you they leave a mark. Om Prakash sir was one such person. A lively person, with a constant twinkle in this eyes, and a witty joke to share, he made an often disliked class like Hindi most interesting and looked forward to. He was a lovely person, most respected and adored by all his students. He will always remain in our memories as a brilliant teacher, loving guide and inspiring mentor. He will be sadly missed-gone, but never forgetten.”
Charu Leekha Batch of 1976
