A tribute to Mrs. Indu Pillay, a teacher and principal par excellence and a person ever so warm, generous and loving.
She was always so cheerful and ever smiling with a zeal for life that was so infectious, that she constantly spread happiness and cheer to all who came in contact with her. We will always have fond memories of her singing in the morning assembly, of her being such a motivating teacher and of her always spreading her smiles and love to the world.
A lady of such strong principles, brave, kind and generous. Mrs. Pillay will be missed beyond any words can describe, every day forever.
We feel so blessed that we got to spend our childhood with you, learn so much from you along the way and got to witness the legacy that you been so instrumental in building, here at the school and the ashram. It really is the end of an era with your loss, but we are sure you are always above us watching us, guiding us and showering your blessings over all of us.

What a great human being, one who led a life worth celebrating! My favorite Pillay mam memory: I had given some random inter-school exam & when the results were announced, turned out that I had done rather well. The organizing school had requested the respective principals to accompany the top students for the award ceremony. So Pillay mam called me into her office (always a nerve wracking experience) and with a mischievous twinkle in her eye, said, “Rejoy. You and me, young man, are going for a date tomorrow.”

Passing of an era.

Lot of memories revolve around her. Looking back, under her leadership the School progressed extremely well. I am sure all of 1982 batch would agree that our interaction with her was with a mix of fear and love, and that’s how it should be..

We shall miss her dearly, but she lives on in each one of us whose lives she touched…

I remember meeting her for the very first time while I was in the 5th grade. I was a brand new student at MIS. I’d been instructed by my class teacher to draw for her a birthday card and deliver it to her office in the senior wing of the school. She looked at the card with a smile, read through the few words I’d written inside and then commented “while the drawing and execution is flawless you might want to address me as ‘Principal’ ma’am and not ‘principle’ ma’am, next time.”

Deeply saddened to hear the news. She was a remarkable woman who led by example. Her values were instilled in us through her talks in the morning assembly and I often reference them when I deal with everyday life. She lived a full life and left a rich legacy behind in her students. May her soul return to god in peace.
