Before MIS
After passing from Delhi College of Art, I went to Mumbai to work for a film director, but I came back to Delhi after 1 year since I realised my actual passion was not that. After coming to Delhi, I was searching for a job and then I came across an advertisement in the newspaper from Mother’s international school and they were looking for an art teacher. In the July of 1878, Mrs Indu Pillay took my interview and I was given the job then and there.
During this time I also joined NSD (National School of Drama) and did some of their courses under international director Ebrahim Alkazi.
Initial Years
I have seen MIS grow from a few classrooms of albester sheets to the modern classroom it has today. When I joined, the only proper classroom was in the primary school, later we built proper buildings and classrooms to accommodate more and more students and help them grow into the person they are.
In the 1980’s one of my students, namely Vikas Vajpayee (who is a doctor now) wen to the USSR(Russia) after getting selected as the Best artist in a competition organised by the USSR itself.
Events at School
In the entire school years, the most challenging and hectic part was the annual day and sports day. I was always tasked with the stage design and the stage lighting. We all had to work day and night, sometimes round the clock so that the students could showcase their talent in front of their parents. There are a lot of people who have helped me and supported me during the construction and designing. One of them was Mr. Tulsi Ram ji who is no longer with us but his unconditional support is something I will never forget.
I was the deputy superintendent of the CBSE board exam for our school center, it was one of my most prestigious part of working here along with designing the annual magazine Navchetna which I always look forward to.
My Collegues
It will be a shame if I don’t mention all of my staff members starting from Shekhar ji, Bhola ji, Madhok ji, Mr Ghai, Mr Gulshan, Mr Bhalla and each and every faculty member I have worked with. They have been my support and have given me valuable advice which helped me retire from the only job I ever loved.
I would also like to show my appreciation for some of my best students Bhawananda, Ajanta Guhathakurta, Sourav Das, Rajit Bannerjee, Rupal Parekh and many others who have always been in touch and have achieved greatness in their career.
Management Support
Lastly I would like to thank and show my gratitude to Mr Pillay, Mrs Indu Pillay and Tara di for their guidance and support since day one.
